Holiday File: Our Secret Santa

We played Secret Santa and for the gift exchange we decided to make it a little bit fun by playing charades. So basically nobody got their gift until they correctly guessed one. We had a blast and as usual I got drunk by just drinking water.

Fashion File: Mismatch Socks

I remember a phase I had during High School in which I would wear colorful and unexpected patterned socks. I had colorful argyle socks, Disney characters socks, dots socks, you name it, I had it. I remember I wouldn't mismatch them but I would definitely mismatch them with my outfit. So when I found these socks they reminded me of that phase. Fun and colorful socks (crafted in the US from recycled cotton) just because "life is too short for matching socks!".Via Cool Hunting, buy them here.

My life file: My Christmas gifts

1. Got this beautiful Urban Outfitters Eternity scarf from my Secret Santa. 2. Aritzia's TNA warm gloves. 3. Wilfred leather skinny belt. 4. Got two sets of KEM cards from my sister in law and her hubby.

And also, after finding this amazing jewelry store via A Cup of Jo, I got from myself (part trade on etsy) this very cool Deco Arrow Necklace in bronze and these gorgeous bronze earrings. Both from Upper Metal Class on etsy. But the greatest gift of all was the one I got from hubby. I will post about the greatest scavenger hunt he made me play soon! Stay tuned ;)

Holiday File: Merry Christmas!

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! Best wishes and thanks so much for following me!  ;)

My life File: Daan's 30th

I've been so busy that I'm posting these pictures almost a week after they were taken! They are from our very good friend Daan whose 30th birthday was last weekend. He had us over for a classic Dutch dinner: Gourmetta (this is my closest attempt to the dutch word....I'm pretty sure I'm spelling it wrong). Gourmetta is pretty fun, imagine a fondue but instead of a pot you have mini skillets where you cook your own food. So you could have mini burgers, diced chicken, salmon, and lots of different veggies to make your own combinations. Daan made lots of different dishes so there was a lot to choose from, it was really great and we had a wonderful time. Thanks guys and Happy Birthday Daan!

Sarah (Daan's wife) baked him a chocolate mud cake.

 Isn't their Christmas tree beautiful?

 Love these little festive birds!

Pretty colored lights.

Daan and his girls Ava and Sarah.

Baking File: Vanillekipferln

Baking cookies during the Holidays is a HUGE tradition in my family, so every year I take on it and bake my favorite Austrian cookies, vanillekipferln. For us, Holidays and vanillekipferln come together, so it's hard to picture each without the other. Even though my grandmother bakes around 10 different types of Austrian cookies, these are the ones that everyone in the family would fight for! ;)

Architecture File: Wooden huts at Hermes

I couldn't help but post about these incredible wooden structures designed by french architects RDAI for the Hermes boutique in Paris. Located in the heart of the Saint-Germain- des-Prés quarter in Paris, the boutique features three 9 meter high wooden pavilions and a wooden lined staircase that welcomes customers into what was previously the Lutétia swimming pool. The fact that the facade was kept intact adds an unexpected element to this "radical and astonishingly gentle intervention". To read more click here.
